XAP software ensures your systems will perform when faced with disasters, downtime and high activity

You will have improved reliability from your existing systems

No Downtime, Better Performance with XAP Software

GigaSpacesTM XAP (Extreme Application Processing) software insulates your IT operations from the effects of hardware and software downtime. Integrating XAP into your Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning ensures your operations will continue 24x7. XAP integrates with your existing Software and Hardware (Java, Active Server Pages, Windows, Unix, Linux, Sun, & Mainframe systems) and security policies.

Why XAP? When a production worker calls in sick it cause problems. When several key workers call in sick, all work in an office may stop. These same problems can vex your IT systems. Unexpected hardware or software problems, natural and man-made disasters, and other events can cause problems. Worse yet, increased activity can cause software and hardware problems when your system is needed more than ever, and these problems can in turn compromise security.

XAP’s Intelligent Dispatcher ensures service is always provided. The XAP Dispatcher distributes work on your servers in accordance with your security and other policies. As long as at least one server with the required resources remains available, the Dispatcher will ensure your Agency’s work gets done. Every request will be serviced. The Intelligent Dispatcher has built-in Disaster Recovery & COOP features. If the Dispatcher or its server goes down the Dispatcher software will automatically start on another system and take control of operations.

How Does It Work? XAP’s Dispatcher “levels” the work across all servers that can handle a type of work. The Dispatcher acts much like a Taxicab or Fire Dispatcher, giving work to the closest, most available, and best equipped server, even if the server is physically located elsewhere (such as a Disaster Recovery site). If you don’t have enough capacity to provide immediate response, the Dispatcher will queue up requests and ensure every request receives service. The system will not crash.

Your Friend, Scalability! Another large benefit is improved scalability. As your needs grow you can add simply add servers and the XAP Dispatcher will send work to the new servers. Often increased needs mean you purchase bigger, more expensive servers. XAP allows you to treat your IT needs the same way you would treat transportation assets. If you need to add to your delivery capacity, you don’t replace all your old trucks with bigger vehicles. You just buy more trucks and your Dispatcher tells them what to do. With XAP you will be able to add more servers and let the Dispatcher determine the best way to employ your new assets.

Who Uses XAP? XAP is used in the commercial sector by organizations that can’t afford downtime. Our free Management Overview discusses how a Stock Exchange addressed reliability issues with XAP.
